Bendix Woods

A fun ride through a big tree forest.  The trail starts with a bang with the intermediate section of approximately 2 miles.  It then settles into a twisting ride through the woods with a 2.5 mile beginner section.  The trail will keep you on your toes.  It also crosses the park road in several places, so keep your eyes open as you cross the road.

Length: 6.6 miles
Skill Level: Beginner, intermediate
Construction: Loop, Single Track, single direction
Hiking: Opposite direction of riders.
Entrance Fee: St Joseph County Parks Fee

Access Points: The trailhead starts at the kiosk across the street from the Van Paris Shelter.  The Beginner loop can be accessed from the kiosk near the Deneve Shelter.

Tips: Pay attention to the park closing time, you will get locked in the park if stay past closing time.  The trail crosses hiking trails in multiple locations; the mountain bike trail is single track, so if you are riding on a wide trail, you probably got on a hiking trail.  Check out the Studebaker grove of trees on the east side of the park.  The pine trees spell out “STUDEBAKER” and are the source of the pine trees found on the mountain bike trail. At trail crossings look for NIMBA sign posts to indicate the direction of the biking trail versus the hiking trails.
