NIMBA 5 Trail Challenge September 29th-30th 2018
What is it?
A fundraiser for the NIMBA organization to help build and maintain our trails.
The 5 Trail Challenge is both a race of sorts for our racing crowd and a recreational ride for those who just would like to challenge themselves to ride all five of the NIMBA trails in 1 day or a 2 day weekend.
Who is it for? Everyone!
The 5 trail is geared towards riders of all ages and abilities as you can ride and progress through the trails at your own pace.
Why would I want to ride all of the trails in one day or weekend?
The idea was crafted to try and challenge the local (and not so local) riders to try and complete all of the trails in either a day or a weekend. This is something that I know many of us have thought of attempted but few if any have ever completed. Riding all of the trails would result in approximately 36 miles of trails. Drive miles will vary depending on your starting location.
When is it? The 5 Trail Challenge is the weekend of September 29th & 30th Pre-registration is strongly recommended. Day of registration will be held at the T.K. Lawless trailhead from 9-11am on Saturday, Sept. 29th If you pre-reg. you will be free to start and finish at any trail you choose.
Here is where it gets fun.
Racers: The racers will be self-supported and tracking their times through the Strava app on either a Garmin, cell phone, or any other compatible device. There will be Strava segments that will not be released to the public until the morning of the 23rd that the racers will be timed on. There will be another twist or two along the way to earn time bonuses and bonus points towards the season standings. This event will count the same points as the other races before any additional bonus points. Be sure to join the 5 Trail Challenge Strava Club so we can track your time.
Recreational riders: you will also use the same methods as the racers to record your times.. they won’t be important for winning or competing, but they will be used to determine who does and who doesn’t complete the challenge. Challenge yourself!! Have fun and bring a friend or two to ride with you.
