NIMBA Holds Mountain Bike Clinics For Community Groups

In addition to hosting several the mountain bike clinics this fall, NIMBA has presented three clinics to a variety of  groups in the Michiana area.  A clinic was held in conjunction with a Boy Scout camping trip at TK Lawless, the South Bend Adventure Club hosted a kids mountain bike clinic and the Berrien County Parks Department hosted a clinic at Love Creek County Park.    NIMBA has two IMBA certified instructors and several other volunteers that help present these skills clinics to expose the community to the basic skills required to safely enjoy mountain biking.

NIMBA Donation

The Northern Indiana Mountain Bike Association has donated 35 sign posts to improve the signage on the mountain bike trail at Andrews University.   Over the last several years a dedicated group of volunteers has worked hard to secure the University’s approval of the existing trail while at the same time maintaining and expanding the trail.  The trail utilizes some of the most challenging terrain in Michiana to create a 10 mile trail well suited for the intermediate and advanced riders in the area.    NIMBA believes that  providing the sign posts will help make the trail at Andrews University even more accessible to riders throughout the area that are unfamiliar with some of the unique features and sections of the trail.


NIMBA October 2015 Update

NIMBA Meeting 10-12-15
We will be meeting at the Oaken Bucket in South Bend.  Come at 6PM to eat, meeting starts at 6:30PM.  We will have the race season awards to distribute and will be announcing our new race director.  If you want to have a voice this is the place to be. We would especially get some feedback from racers at this meeting. We will also talk about fall trail workday plans.

Culver Cyclocross 10-11-15 – Member Discount
The second annual Culver Cyclocross is offering a limited number $5 NIMBA member discounts for online registration on BikeReg.  They have a new course this year that will be fast and fun.  Signup at

Level 1 Mountain Bike Clinic
One of NIMBA’s ICP certified instructors will be presenting a Level 1 skills clinic at Love Creek County Park in Berrien Springs MI on Saturday 10-10-15 at 9:30 AM.  Love Creek County Park has a nice 4.25 mile Mountain Bike trail and provides a nice contrast to the more advanced trail at Andrews University in Berrien Springs.

Fall Trail Workdays
We will be having workdays at most of the trails this fall.  We currently have Bonneyville Mill scheduled for Saturday 10/31/15 and Potato Creek scheduled for Saturday 11-21-51.  Check out the NIMBA workday page  for the current schedule.

NIMBA Meeting Monday 9-14-15

This months NIMBA meeting is on Monday night 9-14-15 at The Oaken Bucket in South Bend,  come for dinner at 6PM or just come for the meeting at 7PM.  If you are looking for one of the NIMBA shirts or  socks or raffle tickets, we will have them there.

Essential Mountain Bikes Skills Clinic August 26th

Essential Mountain Bikes Skills Clinic
Who: Anyone with basic mountain bike skills, a safe and functional mountain bike, and the ability to ride the beginner section at Rum Village Park. (Beginner section is similar to Potato Creek trail)

What: A NIMBA ICP certified instructor will present a level 1 skills clinic that will demonstrate basic techniques that are essential skills for trail riding; including body and pedal position, braking, and good group ride practices.

Where: The Rum Village Nature center parking lot.

When: Wednesday Evening at 6:30, August 26th

NIMBA August 2015 Update

Winona Cross Country race this Sunday 8/16/15
Race #4 in the MMBRS series is this Sunday at Winona.  The weather looks great for the race and you can signup online until 5PM on Saturday to save money over day of race registration.  For more information on the Winona Race.

Tour de LaPorte Time Trial Saturday 8/22/15
NIMBA is once again helping to put on this race with all of the money going to a good cause.  The venue is great, a beach on a clean lake. The course is unique, a  1 mile ride on lakeshore road to start, then the always fun mountain bike trail with a fast ride on some hiking trails thrown in .  Great food afterwards.  If you are really up for a challenge sign up for the road bike time trial earlier in the day.  Use the NIMBA discount code when you register online.  For more information on Tour de LaPorte.

Level 1 Skills Clinic Wednesday Evening 8/26/15
NIMBA ICP certified instructor will be teaching a level 1 skills clinic at Rum Village on Wednesday evening 8/26/15.  Watch the NIMBA Facebook page for more information.

Registration is Open for Tour de NIMBA 10/3/15
The third annual Tour de NIMBA is now open for registration.

Ride 100K and do PC, Bendix and Rum in one day. Ride 50K and ride PC and Rum.
