As 2015 comes to a close I have completed my fourth year as President of NIMBA. I have decided that four years was the right amount of time for me to lead this growing and dynamic group.
When I became President of NIMBA I was ill prepared to lead the group; I had not met any of the land managers, did not know any shop owners and did not know many members. I appreciate the patience our members have shown as I went through my on the job training. We have accomplished a lot as a club over the last 4 years. I feel it is important for groups like NIMBA to periodically have new leadership to keep the group moving forward and I believe that your board is as strong as it has ever been.
With my resignation as President, Matt Flournoy, the Vice President, assumes the role of President. I have agreed to continue to serve NIMBA in one of the at large board positions. Greg Furry is now the Vice President, Tim Koscher is now the Secretary, Jay Corban is the Treasurer and Jody Jernigan is the Race Director. We still have open positions on the board that Matt will be working to fill.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to lead the group over the last 4 years and I am pleased that we have Matt leading NIMBA into the future.

In addition to hosting several the mountain bike clinics this fall, NIMBA has presented three clinics to a variety of groups in the Michiana area. A clinic was held in conjunction with a Boy Scout camping trip at TK Lawless, the South Bend Adventure Club hosted a kids mountain bike clinic and the Berrien County Parks Department hosted a clinic at Love Creek County Park. NIMBA has two IMBA certified instructors and several other volunteers that help present these skills clinics to expose the community to the basic skills required to safely enjoy mountain biking.

NIMBA’s recent donation of 35 sign posts to the Trail At Andrews University was noted in the University’s Andrews Agenda . The volunteers have already started to place the signposts on the trail and we should see arrows on the signposts later this fall.

The Northern Indiana Mountain Bike Association has donated 35 sign posts to improve the signage on the mountain bike trail at Andrews University. Over the last several years a dedicated group of volunteers has worked hard to secure the University’s approval of the existing trail while at the same time maintaining and expanding the trail. The trail utilizes some of the most challenging terrain in Michiana to create a 10 mile trail well suited for the intermediate and advanced riders in the area. NIMBA believes that providing the sign posts will help make the trail at Andrews University even more accessible to riders throughout the area that are unfamiliar with some of the unique features and sections of the trail.
