Hi NIMBA Friends and Members,
Some updates for you:
Race # 4 of the Time Trial Series is on
Sunday, September 5th at
Bluhm County. This
race will be chip timed. Our sponsors for this race are Hammer Nutrition,
RoadID and Bike Stop Cycling. For directions and information about the
trail, you can visit our race website at
www.nimbaseries.org. Bluhm is on
Central Standard time, so this race will start at 10:00 AM Central time,
that is 11:00 EST. I have also attached the Series Standings so far for 3
races. We have 3 races to go in the Series and lots of positions are up for
grabs. The top 3 finishers in each category will receive a plaque at the
Series Finale at Potato Creek State Park on October 3rd. You can register
for any of the remaining races on line at
www.bikereg.com, early registration is encouraged because it helps us
plan for the day.
Bendix Woods is
under construction and our next workday is
Saturday,
August 28th from 9-noon. Lunch will be served to all the workers.
Meet at the front gate at Bendix Woods at 9:00 AM. This terrain is really
magnificent and we are going to have a great trail there. We need your help
to get this built. Bring water, bug spray and gloves. NIMBA has all the
tools needed.
A Rum Village workday has been scheduled for Sunday,
September 12th so we can prepare the trail for the race the following
weekend. The workday will be from 9-noon again and lunch will be served for
all the workers. Please come and help get Rum in tip top shape for the race.
Mark your calendars for the
season finale weekend
at Potato Creek State Park. On the weekend of October 2nd and 3rd,
NIMBA members camp for 1/2 price. We pay for Friday (the 1st) and get
Saturday (the 2nd) for free. On Saturday, we do some trail maintenance (if
needed) and participate in the National IMBA Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day.
We will take the kids on the trail in groups based on their abilities. IMBA
has sent us a goody box for all the kid racers. All they need is a helmet
and a bike. The goal is to introduce the next generation to the sport we
love so much. Meet at the Nature Center at the Park at 10:00 AM for the kids
ride. Then on Sunday, we will hold the much anticipated Series Finale Race
and Awards ceremony. If you plan to camp, please contact me so I can get a
space reserved for you because we all want to be together and the Park will
set aside these sites for us. We can double up on the sites, reducing the
cost even more.
Thanks for all the support this year and I hope
to see you at Bluhm. It will be a fun day.
